Normally I take my walks on the Saturday before I post them. Unless I have something saved up from earlier in the year. However at this point I do not have any saved up hikes. So since it was snowing yesterday I decided to do something that I have criticized TV shows for doing for years.
The clip show episode is a common trope where a TV show finds a reason to run clips from earlier episodes. For my younger viewers this is how TV shows which used to have to have 20 to 26 episodes per season created a condensed or low cost episode as filler. With more modern TV shows only having around 10 episodes the need to create filler shows is less.
Also considering its the beginning of a new year and I am looking forward to the hikes of the new year, building this post gives me ideas for where I might go. So please feel free to visit these old posts or just enjoy the short new comments I have for these trails today.
Point Beach State Park 2025 01
This was a cold one. Situated just a little north of Manitowoc were I recently went it was a lot colder last January. I got lots pictures and played with a few short videos even though it was cold.
We will definitely return to this park again when its warmer for some more pictures and maybe a swim.
Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve 2025 04
My wife suggested this hike last year after hearing about the eagles nest at the preserve. It was a nice hike and I got dozens of pictures of birds. A return here would be nice, so we will see if these trails make a return this year.
Logan Creek Natural Area 2025 05
My wife suggested this hike because of a news report on the flowers. Got some great pictures of the trilliums and other flowers while we were here. But parts of the trail were not easy and wet.
High Cliff State Park 2025 06
We visited this park twice last year. Its also close so making a return trip is always a possibility. Maybe next time I’ll get a good picture of the eagles that nest there.
Dells of Eau Claire 2025 06
This was a surprising find. I was looking for places to go on our anniversary trip and stumbled on this place. It has a great waterfall and most of the trails were pretty easy.
Redhead and Egret Hiking Trails 2025 09
Our only trip to the Horicon Marsh this year. When looking for a place to go I found many different trails at Horicon. So we will be hiking the marsh this year. I will want to return to these trails eventually but we need to check out the other trails first.
Kettle Moraine Ice Age Trail 2025 10
This trail was a challenge. Though it was only a five mile hike, the topography made it feel like twice that distance. Adding that I sprained my ankle and lost my spare camera battery. But there is a lot of trail in Kettle Moraine, so we will probably return in 2026.
