This will be a short post this week. We had to move our daughter so, we wanted to do another short hike. And this time of year we start to see the ice shoves along the shores of Lake Winnebago.

So we decided to walk along the peninsula at a Ames Point in Oshkosh. The rocky shores are a perfect place for the ice to push up on.

As the ice melts and refreezes wind pushes it around the lake and up onto shore creating the ice shoves. These ice formations create beautiful images.

However this year we were too early. While on our hike we could only see the ice shoving around the cracks just off shore.

Beyond these off shore shoves, shanties dotted the lake. Cars and trucks drove along the ice to get to the shanties. A snowmobile raced down the shore line. All of it represents the Wisconsin culture of ice fishing.

We walked up and down the point. At the tip of the point we could see ice shoves starting to shove up on the island south of the point. The walk was cold though with the wind whipping across the lake chilling us as we returned from the point.

We decided to see if the ice was shoving at Asylum Point. Unfortunately the ice was fully locked in place there as well. So we took a couple of pictures and packed up the camera for the day.

Thanks again for reading.
