Saturday I decided to walk the Newberry Trail again, as I try to prior to all of my reviews. This Saturday was graced by beautiful weather and the presence of two Bald Eagles. And the trail was busy as people were out for some exercise, walking Jogging and enjoying nature.

Review
I always start this trail from either up in Tellulah Park or down by the river near the RiverHeath Apartments. Saturday I started up the hill in Tellulah Park. Walking down a wide path to the river. Here you can find a floating dock to get right on the river. Benches offer places to rest as you walk up the river toward the RiverHeath Apartments. And you will walk past a Kayak launch as you near the apartments.
At this point you could just walk back up to Tellulah Park but why not continue on the trail following the river. Appleton Lock 4 and the Lawrence University football field surround the trail underneath the College Avenue bridge. Continuing up the trail toward Appleton Lock 3 the trail is surrounded by trees on one side and the river on the other.
As you pass Appleton Lock 3 you will cross Lawe Street. At this point the path will follow the lock channel and the path is surrounded by trees until you meet S River Street near Stone Arch Brewpub.
Here you have a choice, you could turn back or you could choose to follow the Fox Trot Trail and the Hydro Electric Heritage trail to lengthen your hike. I often choose to walk the Hydroelectric Heritage Trail back to College Avenue and cross the bridge looking down on the rock beds under the dam. Saturday I chose to follow S River Street back to Tellulah Park.
As usual with the trails near the Fox river you can see many birds along the river. Saturday I saw two eagle sitting in a large oak tree. I’ve heard and seen these eagles multiple times while walking on these trails. Saturday was the first time I was able to catch a picture of these eagles.
Normally this is where I would end a review. However on researching this trail I found that Newberry trail continues through Tellulah Park to the east. It continues following Newberry Street until it cuts across to College Avenue to connect with the CE Trail. The CE trail then follows College Avenue, Highway CE to Kaukauna. So I may have to revisit this section of the path in a Newberry trail in the future.
I do not have any plans to review the CE Trail in the near future, as it is pretty much a straight line following Highway CE into Kaukauna but let me know know if there is interest in the comments. Also let me know if you have enjoyed walking the Newberry Trail. You may also want to note that some of the pictures I am posting are from different seasons. Let me know if you want to see any of these pictures posted on Pixels.com
Love the fall colors. Photo of the eagle is awesome.
